I took this picture when I was in Romania we went there to help them build their church, I was thankful that the stone was quite light, and also thankful that most of the church was up. I was unable to find out the kind of stone it was due to language barriers and timing of when we received an interpreter, but it was light like wood.
The stone that had been placed on Jesus’ tomb was not light. Some sources say that the stone that was used to seal the tomb for Jesus was between 1-2 tons. The tomb had been sealed with the body of Jesus in burial clothes, when Mary Magdelene and Joanna went to the tomb, the stone had been rolled away and Jesus was not there. Instead, there were “men dressed in glowing white” there who said to the women: “Don’t be alarmed! You are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was nailed to a cross, and God has raised Him to life, and He is not here. You can see where they put His body.” Mark 16:6 When the women looked into the tomb there was only the grave clothes, the stone had been rolled away.
Wow, what great power, and a fulfillment of prophecy: Zechariah 9:9-10 “Everyone in Jerusalem, celebrate and shout! Your King has won the victory, and He is coming to you. He is humble and rides on a donkey, He comes on the colt of a donkey. I, the Lord, will take away war chariots and horses from Israel and Jerusalem. Bows that were made for battle will be broken. I will bring peace to the nations and Your King will rule from sea to sea. His kingdom will reach from the Euphrates River across the earth.”
Luke 24:1-4 tells more of the story: “Very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb carrying spices they had prepared, when they found the stone rolled away from the entrance, they went in, but they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus, and they did not know what to think. Suddenly, two men in shining white clothes stood beside them. The women were afraid and bowed to the ground. But the men said “Why are you looking in the place of the dead, for someone who is alive? Jesus isn’t here! He has been raised from death. Remember that while He told you, The Son of Man will be handed over to sinners who will nail Him to a cross. But three days later He will rise to life. Then they remembered what Jesus had said.”
These brave women were known as the first to go to the 11 disciples and tell them that Jesus is alive!!!Sadly, at first the disciples had a problem wrapping their minds around this wonderful news. Though that did change then they went about the world preaching the gospel and bringing souls to the kingdom. Jesus is still alive today, every day, always King, always our savior.
By the grace of God only, I have been used to bring the gospel to thousands of people, for this I am humbly grateful! If you reading this, have never made the choice to trust God with your life, He sent His only Son to the earth to live as a man, He sacrificed His only Son: John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish, but may have eternal life.” He is alive and asking you to give your life to Him today, you will never be the same!
Jesus, forgive us of all sin and deliver us from all things that separates us today, I do believe that you died for my sins, thank you for what You did for me, I believe in You, You sacrificed Your life so that I have a chance to start again, fill me today with your love and with Your Holy Spirit, so that I am guided by His gentle direction through Your word, and through this life, thank you for eternal life just like You, Lord Jesus!
